Acid mist capture in EW cells
Acid mist control hoods for electrowinning
We manufacture and repair hoods that capture and channel the acid mist generated during copper electrowinning. Our design is meant to reduce water and energy use, clogging and maintenance compared with conventional hoods.
A solution to the challenges of acid mist
Acid mist generated during electrowinning affects conditions inside the cellhouse and can contribute to corrosion of equipment and facilities. Conventional hoods can suffer from sulfate buildup and structural damage caused by poor fit.
At Interplak, we develop shape-based capture hoods whose geometry channels the aerosol to a single extraction point, designed to reduce clogging and washing needs.
What services do we offer for acid mist control?
Hood manufacturing
Hoods designed to capture and channel acid mist in electrowinning cellhouses.
Repair and replacement
Restoration or replacement of existing hoods, based on the operation's needs.
Engineering and technical support
Adaptation to the cellhouse layout and operating conditions, with installation support and performance verification, depending on the project scope.

Diagram of the complete extraction circuit
The acid mist control system includes the hoods, collector ducts, scrubbing equipment, fans and stack. Its performance depends on the entire circuit working properly.

Benefits for your operation
Health, safety and environment
Helps control acid mist and reduces the manual washing tasks that expose workers.
Operational efficiency
Lower water and energy use, plus lower extraction airflow than the conventional hood evaluated.
Less maintenance
With no chambers or small openings between them, the design is meant to reduce sulfate clogging and cleaning.
Compatible with existing operations
The top cover geometry allows the existing harvesting setup to stay in place, depending on site conditions.
Applications
- Copper electrowinning cellhouses
- Environmental and occupational-health compliance projects
- Operations aiming to increase current density
